Special thanks to Joanne and Kevin O'Connell for their beautiful talk at WINGS today. Their son Timothy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in May 2007 and went home to God in September 2008, just two days after his 10th birthday. Their sharing about losing a beloved child was inspiring and profound. Kevin said "Tim's prayers were answered...God was with him through it all." Joanne added "Tim never asked why or questioned his illness, he understood what home meant...heaven was his real home." The women of WINGS are deeply grateful to Joanne and Kevin for sharing their journey with Tim's illness and their witness to living a life of faith, hope and love.

We are deeply grateful to Professor Kerry Cronin from Boston College. Dr. Cronin inspired our WINGS group with a fabulous presentation on 13th century Doctor of the Church, Saint Thomas Aquinas. Dr. Cronin shared a succinct and informed overview of Aquinas' greatest accomplishments including the Summa Theologia, or "great conversation." We learned about the 5 proofs for the existence of God to his Natural Law Theory! "The things we love tell us what we are." Thomas Aquinas

We will welcome Boston College Professor Kerry Cronin to WINGS this Wednesday, October 24 at 9:45 am in Father Haley Hall. All women and friends of the parish are welcome! Dr. Cronin will educate, inspire and challenge us as we learn about the life of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Thank you Ron Dowding - this was a terrific presentation!

Thank you to Mr. Ron Dowding for a fabulous presentation on Saint Augustine of Hippo! With his practical gift for speaking, Ron was able to beautifully present the life and teachings of one of the Church's most important saints. Ron helped the WINGS group to better understand the life of this convert who advanced the Church in many key ways during the 4th century, who served as a social justice leader and who wrote one of the most important books of his time (The Confessions) which is still very relevant today. Ron also shared many beautiful quotes by Saint Augustine including "O Holy Spirit, descend plentifully into my heart. Enlighten the dark corners of this neglected dwelling and scatter there thy cheerful beams."

Special thanks to speaker MaryJane Rice, Metaphysics teacher at Montrose School. MJ took us on an inspiring journey, introducing us to 14th century poet and philosopher Dante Alighieri. She provided an intellectually inspiring synopsis of Dante's famous poem, the Divine Comedy. (The most commented upon piece of literature after the Bible.) "Humility is the virtue at the heart of the Divine Comedy. Dante realized that without the grace of God, he could do nothing." shared MJ
